Props for my Photoshoot

I have recently ordered this fake sleeve lifelike tattoo so my model could wear it on the photo shoot day. Tattoo's play a big role in representing people and their beliefs in a way because it shows they are unique and deviant in some ways. Many rock/metal band members are covered with tattoos which shows their interests and separates them from everyone else. As my magazine is a rock/metal magazine, I will make sure my models wear either all black or all white and the main cover star wearing this sleeve tattoo.

Music Magazine Proposal Presentation

Evaluation:

Recently I presented my prezi to my class which was about my music magazine proposal. I did not explain everything in detail because I was trying to rush through it as I had many slides although I covered most things. I decided to create my proposal because Prezi's are visually interesting to watch.

Overall after I presented my prezi, I did not get any criticism, instead a lot of the students said I was organised and that I covered a lot of things. I had a vote about the font and the masthead name for my magazine and people had to pick between 'Thunder' and 'LoudSound'. 6 people voted for 'LoudSound' including Rob, however 8 people voted for 'Thunder' which meant it had the most voted so I came to a conclusion that I would use the masthead ' Thunder'. Also for the font of my magazine, the most voted went to the second font which looks like the letters are melting. I had comments such as; 'I love your font" and " It suits the genre because the letters look Gothic". This meant that I had to chose the second font.

The changes I will be making to my magazine are:
Use the masthead 'Thunder'
Use the melting down font which is the second one
I have already changed the price from £1.99 to £2.99 because I was told that the first price is too cheap.

Photography Workshop

Recently, We had a lesson with Scott Thompson about the photography room. We learnt many things from learning about the camera's features to different types of backgrounds and many other things.

We firstly learnt that there are two types of backgrounds which is white and black. They have special names which are white drop and black drop. We were told that the background would chance every week so if we wanted to use black drop we would take the photo shoot on the week it is set because the week after they will be changing it to the white drop.

We were told not to stand very close to the background otherwise we would bleach into the background. For example, having black hair and standing close to black drop would mean you blend into the background which means the models have to stand about 5/6 ft away from the backdrop. There is also a type of light called 'The Snoot' which I will write about in the lights section of this analysis.

All the equipment in the photography studio is infra-red which means they have to be close to each other to connect. We were also told that before taking images in the photography room the lights needed to be switched off because the bulbs get too hot and it can explode the bulb.

The lights we will be using is called trinity lights. There are two key lights and one snoot. The snoot is faced towards the back of the models hair to separate the background and the model. All of the lights have a + and - button to increase or decrease the amount of brightness, 1 being the lowest flash
and 6 being the highest quality of flash. The soft boxes do not have the same flash control levels.

There are also some key notes I have to make sure are done before or whilst doing to photoshoot.
  • RHS must remain switched off
  • ISO must be between ht range of 100-200 as that corresponds with the brightness of the image
  • Dial mode must be set to manual
  • F stop -  correct exposure  ( Always check before taking a picture )
  • ISO - 100 OR 200 ( check the brightness )
  • White balance ( for flash ) lightning bolt
  • On the top check the modes which should be on M  ( No auto - tune )
  • AF - auto focus
  • F - Fine focus
  • Button on top is called Godocks.
Going back to the lighting, the ratio of the soft boxes should be 1:2 which means if the brightness for soft box 1 is 3, the other soft box should be 6 to give it a shadowy effect where it goes from light to dark.
The are also notes from how to use the camera.

RockSound' Media Kit Request

Recently I have sent an email to Ryan Bird who is the editor of RockSound magazine to request a media kit because on the internet I have not found it. As the media kit is not out, requesting it was the only thing I could do however I have not yet received a reply. If I do not receive a media kit, I will have to just go along with Kerrang! media kit because I have tried to find out RockSound but it is not out and I cannot do anything else about it which is very disappointing.
